My home is really dusty, do I need to have my ducts cleaned, or what can I do?
Duct cleaning is not really effective. In fact, most people have flexible ducts in their attic and “cleaning them” could actually cause damage/tears. We can provide an Air Quality Consultation and install a UV light system + HEPA filter, as well as seal the grill boot to sheetrock to improve the air quality in the home.
My AC system is having trouble keeping up with high temps in Texas. How do I know if my system isn’t working properly?
A typical temperature differential for an HVAC system that is in pristine working condition is approx. 20-30 degrees from the outside temperature to inside. For example, if the outside temperature (or heat index / “feels like” temperature) is 104-106 degrees, a system that is in excellent working condition (like new) will be able to reach about 76 degrees during the hottest point of the day. A good rule of thumb is if your system all of a sudden seems like it’s not cooling as well, then you may have an issue. If it just seems like it’s “not keeping up” most of the time, it’s likely it’s just super stinking hot outside.
Do you install Ductless or Mini Split HVAC systems?
Yes, we do! We sell Mitsubishi and Samsung mini split systems. Ductless mini-split heat pumps are a highly efficient solution for transforming garages, sunrooms and other bonus rooms into comfortable, 4-season retreats.
- Energy Savings – Save on your utility bills Mini-split heat pumps can offer dramatically increased efficiency—up to 25.5 SEER (25.5 SEER2)—reducing energy consumption by more than half!*
*Energy savings is a rough estimate based on national average cost per KW/h and cooling degree days on a three-ton system. The savings are not guaranteed and depend on various factors such as weather, temperature set points, home insulation, duct work, maintenance and other factors. - Small Footprint – Comfort that can fit anywhere! Their small footprint and flexibility to mount on the wall or on the ground makes mini-splits the ideal choice for space-constrained installations.
- Quiet Operation – Keep the peace outdoors! Incredibly quiet operation as low as 51 dBa— less than one quarter of the sound you typically hear from a 14 SEER single-stage heat pump. That makes mini splits perfect near outdoor living areas or in strict noise ordinance zones.
My A/C vents look moldy – what can be done to prevent this from happening?
Our technician will clean the grills/vents with a bleach + water solution and seal the grill boot to sheetrock to prevent mold contamination.
What is the best time of year to do an A/C and/or Heat check?
- A/C checks are best performed in the Spring before the heat of summer hits to ensure your system is working properly and efficiently. We send reminders out to our customers in March about scheduling their Spring checks in April.
- Similarly, Heat checks are best performed before we get our first freeze in the winter. We recommend to our customers to have their Heat check scheduled in the October / early November timeframe.
